EYFS

At Lapal Grange, we recognise that children are unique and aim to provide a happy stimulating learning environment that caters for the individual needs of all children. We provide a broad-based and balanced curriculum that enables all children to develop their full potential in all areas.  The setting adopts the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS: an under five curriculum), supporting children and giving them a good skill base, ready to further develop and embed within their Reception Year at Primary School.

The EYFS starts at birth and continues to the end of the reception year (1st year of school). The Early Years Foundation Stage places emphasis on the importance and value of play in addition to having a balanced approach to the types of opportunity to learn. Here at Lapal Grange we promote learning through play alongside independent learning and focused and guided learning.

All of our activities and opportunities are planned around 'what we see within the class room', what is happening within the community and the world at large (for example, calendar events such as Chinese New Year) . We also take into account the children's development and interests.  All of these factors are incorporated across all of our activities for each area of learning. For example if we feel children require support to make snips in paper, we will plan for activities that will support that target to be achievable, differentiating along the way to suit all the levels of development. We set out expectations of what we want our children to learn as their ‘development matters’.
